Beyond our academic programmes, Sunway iLabs at Sunway University offers a variety of immersive initiatives under our Inspire pillar, designed to spark innovation and entrepreneurial ambition in individuals from all backgrounds. Through engaging experiences like hackathons, corporate bootcamps, and innovation challenges, we aim to inspire students and corporate professionals to see themselves as future innovators and entrepreneurs. By bridging theory with hands-on practice, these programmes empower participants to create impactful solutions and drive meaningful change in their respective industries and communities.
For over eight years, this flagship hackathon has inspired students and young professionals to tackle real-world challenges through creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship.
Open to Sunway students of all levels and working professionals, the Make-It-Challenge fosters a collaborative environment that bridges disciplines and perspectives. Participants gain hands-on experience in innovation and entrepreneurship, working alongside diverse teams to ideate and prototype solutions that drive positive impact and contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Supported by industry partners and guided by industry mentors and, the Make-It-Challenge not only develops practical skills but also instills a deep commitment to sustainable change. As a cornerstone of Sunway iLabs’ mission, this hackathon continues to empower future leaders to shape a better, more sustainable world.

Aphelia won the Malaysian Regional Finals of Startup World Cup 2023 and represented Malaysia at the Global Startup World Cup Finals 2023 at Silicon Valley, California.

Byte In is a mobile city-building game designed with an aim to help people rethink their relationship with their health by empowering better diets and habits.
With the support of Sunway iLabs, Byte In continued to build upon their idea after Make It Challenge 2023.
In just a few months, Byte In took the global stage by participating in a global hackathon, where they competed with top innovators worldwide.
Among 907 submissions, Byte In made their mark by winning 3rd place in the AI track, bringing home a USD 15,000 prize.

Voltio is a platform that aims to decentralise power for all by fractionalising solar farms as RWA (real world assets).
Voltio achieved remarkable success in Make It Challenge 2024, clinching the 1st Runner Up title, and winning the Best Prototype awards.
Building on this momentum, Voltio advanced to the global stage, competing in a global hackathon alongside 10,000 participants worldwide.

GreenTrip is a platform that offers blockchain rewards as incentives for eco-friendly travels, with an aim to tackle carbon emissions and air pollution.
GreenTrip later joined Make It Challenge 2024 where they recruited a software developer, integrated Web3 elements, and placed Top 12.
GreenTrip then took on the global stage at a global hackathon, competing with 1,359 other submissions and projects.

Through the 5-day, or, 3-day targeted workshops, mentoring, and direct presentations to company leaders, participants gain practical skills in corporate entrepreneurship. Young Innovators Bootcamp
The Young Innovators Bootcamp by Sunway iLabs is an immersive programme designed to equip young executives with innovative thinking and entrepreneurial skills. Participants work in teams to develop new ideas that align with their company’s vision, focusing on inspiring creativity, building human-centered solutions, and driving impactful change.
