What is Startup Worldcup?

Startup World Cup is a global conference and competition that brings together the top startups, VCs, entrepreneurs and world-class tech CEOs.

Startup World Cup Malaysia is a regional competition that is part of the global Startup World Cup series, taking place in 60+ countries. The Grand Finale brings all the regional champions to San Francisco where the winning team is awarded with a USD$1,000,000 investment prize. The goal of this event is to foster innovation and entrepreneurship worldwide.

Startups in all stages and verticals are encouraged to apply – the winner of this event will proceed to the Grand Finale and compete for the USD$1,000,000 investment.

Frequently-asked questions

There are no restrictions to apply. We encourage startups in any domain, any stage, any size, to apply. Please note that the startup must be a legal entity not just an idea.
There are no restrictions on the amount on the capital raised, we encourage everyone to apply.
We accept applications regardless of your location. We encourage you to apply to the closest regional competition.

It is free to apply.

Startups can apply to more than one regional, as long as the startup is not a regional champion.

It is not a requirement, but part of the judging criteria will be based on startup’s activity level on Twitter. Be sure to use hashtag #SWC2023 and #STARTUPWORLDCUP so we see your tweets!
Application review committee will consist of representatives from VCs, incubators, and angel investors.
The numerous benefits of participating in Startup World Cup 2023 include networking with industry experts, opening doors to potential investments and business prospects. Participants will receive valuable feedback and advice from judges and industry leaders, enabling you to improve your startup’s business strategies. Additionally, showcasing your startup on this global platform will increase brand awareness and expose you to a broader audience.
For the preliminary round, the top 25 startups will be chosen for the semi-finals where the top 10 startups will be chosen to present on the finals.
For both the preliminary round and semi-finals, it will be a 5 minutes pitch and a 5 minutes Q&A. However, for the regional finals, it will be a 3-minute video and a 5 minute Q&A.
During the registration period, participants have the option to opt-out; however, they must provide a legitimate reason and contact Sunway iLabs immediately. It is important to note that if a participant is shortlisted for the finale, they will automatically lose their place upon opting out.
